Outage Update - August 23rd
Firstly, we would like to apologize for yesterday’s outage and thank you all for your continued patience while we worked to locate the root cause of the issue.
Beginning at about 2:20PM CEST, SoundCloud and the API were inaccessible for most of the afternoon CET. During that time, we were working on restoring service and pinpointing the origin of the outage. The site has been back up since yesterday evening around 7pm CET and we’ve gotten to the root of the issue. Today, we’ve been progressing through a series of fixes and will continue moving forward to prevent this from happening again in the future.
While we’re working to ensure ongoing stability and performance, we’ve had to temporarily disable a handful of features. The following are not currently operational, but will be fully enabled again very soon:
- Android notifications have been disabled.
- Playback counts are frozen. We’re counting new plays in the background and the stats will be updated once we work through the different open cases. As of now, we’re not able to announce a definite ETA
- Users may still encounter some hiccups during use of the mobile site
Again, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused, and our team has been working hard to resolve this outage quickly and prevent these kinds of problems in the future. We’ll continue working to bring those features back up, and do not expect any further issues from this event!
