Messages Temporarily Unavailable

We’ll be doing some maintenance on our messaging database starting at 2PM CET/5AM PST. During this time, sending and deleting messages on the site won’t be available (no other actions on the site will be affected though). We’re hoping to get this maintenance done as soon as possible and will post here once we have any updates. Thanks for your patience!

Load Balancer Issues

The site is down due to trouble with our load balancers. This means you may have trouble accessing sounds directly on soundcloud.com as well as through our mobile apps. Our engineers are on the case though!

We’ve identified the problem and are working to design and deploy a permanent fix.

Our fix is now live, and all services should now be functioning correctly. Apologies for any inconvenience caused, and thanks for your patience through these issues.

Our API is experiencing some issues, due to heavy traffic related to the updates we made today. This may result in some page elements failing to load.

Comments have been temporarily disabled in order to reduce server load and help us stabilise faster. Our team are all hands on deck, working hard to return service to normal.

Quick Maintenance

Today, we’ll be performing mandatory maintenance starting at 11am CET / 1am PST. We’re expecting it to be brief, but during this time, certain actions on the site will be affected. We’ve listed these below:

uploading
commenting
sending messages
sharing to groups
deleting
editing tracks and/or account details
purchasing
following/unfollowing
signups
login to SoundCloud API apps

If you upload a file during this time, it will be queued in the transcoding mode until we’re finished. After we’re done, it’ll be automatically processed. All other actions listed above won’t be saved during this time and would have to be repeated once maintenance is complete.

Note: logging in and playing sounds on classic SoundCloud, Next SoundCloud, & widgets will not be affected during this time.

We’ll add more details to this post once we have an update on how maintenance is going.

Outage update

05:37PM CEST: We have had a partial database outage that we are recovering from at the moment. We should be back to normal with in 15-20 minutes. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

06:14PM CEST: We are bringing the systems back up slowly. Should just be a little while longer until we are fairly stable.

3:49PM CEST/9:49AM EST/6:49AM PST: we’re currently investigating issues with the site and working hard to bring it fully back. We’ll update as soon as we can! Thanks for hanging in there!

4:23PM CEST/10:23AM EST/7:23AM PST: things have smoothed out now and the site is stable again. In regards to what happened, an unexpected issue came up while rolling out a change, causing slow loading across the site. Once the exact cause was located, all systems were ultimately reverted and recovered again.

We’re really sorry for the inconvenience this might’ve caused, but thanks for your patience!
